Edward has as a national practice with a focus on commercial disputes, insurance, reinsurance, corporations law and obligations. He has particular expertise in addressing policy construction and other indemnity issues arising in the context of insurance and reinsurance arrangements. In addition, Edward has substantial experience – and a strong academic interest – in public law and the prosecution of environmental and regulatory offences. He appears regularly for governmental agencies in prosecutions and administrative law proceedings and holds an appointment as Environmental Counsel to the Board of the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
Alongside his appearance work, Edward enjoys a substantial opinion writing practice, which traverses his areas of specialisation.
Since 2005, Edward has been a member and is currently chair of a NSW Bar Association Professional Conduct Committee. He is regularly called upon to advise the NSW Bar Association on matters relating to the regulation of the legal profession in New South Wales. He has taught advocacy, evidence and ethics to barristers and prospective barristers and chairs the committee responsible for delivering the NSW Bar Examinations. Throughout his career, Edward has held teaching and advisory roles at the University of Wollongong’s School of Law and, since 2018, has been a member of the Law Qualifications Committee of the NSW Legal Practitioners Admission Board.
