The core practice of the department consists of IP/IT litigation and advisory work in all IP/IT matters, across various sectors such as cosmetics, fashion, video games, media, retails, food and beverages, data processing.

The IP/IT team's expertise and knowledge, particularly in the areas of trademarks, designs and copyright, combined with its perfect knowledge of procedural rules and its access to courts, places the department among the best professionals on the market.  

In this respect, it is to be noted that BG2V’s IP/IT team deals with lots of cross border cases, where it plays a key role in the coordination of the case. The team is used to coordinate several professionals/firms throughout Europe and the world, in an efficient and responsive manner. The size of the team and the fact that it can freely choose the most appropriate team amongst its network of best friends, allows the team to propose tailor made, cost effective and business-oriented solutions.   

Ultimately, the team has a well-established practise of proceedings before trademarks and design offices such as the EUIPO or the INPI.   

As far as advisory work is concerned, the department has the most extensive expertise dealing with IP and IT issues involved all types of corporate transactions. This is notably because both Xavier Carbasse and Marie Georges-Picot are used to working with corporate departments within or outside BG2V. We are hence used to putting in place tailor-made teams, allowing us to be responsive and provide answers on short notice, with a pragmatic and business-oriented approach.  

This expertise and positioning have led us to developing an advisory practice, outside the sole corporate support activity. We notably have a strong expertise in drafting and negotiating complex Research and Development agreements in fields such has pharmaceutical research or biotech technologies.   

As regards IT, BG2V’s lawyers are involved in several high-level matters where they notably draft and review contracts to assign rights, for the creation of websites, database/software licenses, agreements for IT services (including hosting and outsourcing) and the preparation of general terms of sale of services provided via the Internet. The practice’s growth is as such that the department promoted Domitille Huart as counsel in 2024. 

BG2V also has first-tier expertise in the legislation pertaining to e-commerce, communications, and online payment services and for personal data.   

Finally, BG2V is the French local adviser of main internet key-players of the Silicon Valley.
